SAGEST has developed an experimental system that, through a special thermal imaging camera, is able to detect temperature variations  within the visual field. This system allows to monitor the entire area covered by the system with an alarm triggered in case of fires, or a temperature rise in a specific area. The system allows to detect fires occurring not only in gas discharge areas, but also fires that may occur in peripheral areas of the system.

During the night, or under low visibility conditions, thermal imaging cameras are particularly recommended for visual inspection, as they are able to show thermal images that can not be displayed to the naked eye.
